The BuddyUp App is a smartphone application that connects a Caller who is consuming drugs alone to an anonymous Volunteer Supporter who remains present and on the line with them in the moment where there is potential for overdose. Overdose is a risk to all substance users and in the past decade, people dying by overdosing has increased by 50%, in the UK.
Cranstoun need Volunteer Supporters who would be able to support the caller, before, during and after the person calling, providing advice on safer practices and reducing harm. In the event of an overdose occurring, you will need to fulfil the agreed rescue plan by calling emergency services or reaching out to someone the Caller has identified as being close by who can help.
Full Training and necessary equipment will be provided.
