Warwickshire Arrest Referral Service

Cranstoun’s Arrest Referral Service provides offenders the opportunity to break the cycle of crime and substance use. We currently deliver this service with West Midlands Police, Durham Constabulary and Warwickshire Police.

About Cranstoun’s Arrest Referral Service:

Our dedicated and highly experienced teams work within the custody suites of West Midlands Police and Durham Constabulary and the justice centres of Warwickshire Police offering advice, information and referrals on to further treatment for individuals with substance use issues who have been arrested by the police.

Our innovative approach places substance use experts in police custody, conducting thorough assessments for potential offenders. We provide holistic assessments and onward referrals to address individual needs such as substance use, mental health, employment, gambling, and domestic abuse.

Added: By tackling the root causes of offending, we reduce reoffending through timely and tailored interventions.

Our service:

  • Helps to grow and enhance Drug Test on Arrest (DToA) programmes
  • Specialist arrest referral drug workers physically based in the police custody blocks, for significant hours (including evenings and weekends) completing mandatory and voluntary assessments
  • Meeting people where they are at – engaging, motivating, and supporting positive change
  • Swift interventions – holistic assessments completed in the police blocks by our workers
  • Easy and quick referral system – user-friendly digital booking system for Required Assessments when workers are not physically on site
  • Harm Reduction advice delivered and equipment provided to all, to keep people safe
  • Model eradicates local postcode lotteries by offering stand-alone specialist service for everyone arrested and in the police custody
