Posted on: 10 December, 2019

Birmingham City Council has awarded Cranstoun a number of housing support contracts to deliver and manage across Birmingham including:

  • Lead Worker Service for adults
  • Lead Worker Service for victims of domestic abuse
  • Lead Worker Service for households in temporary accommodation.

The contracts, which commenced on 2 December 2019, will help to prevent homelessness across the city.

The range of service provision includes:

  • providing flexible person-centred support and settlement assistance to identified service users
  • supporting service user to maintain accommodation and improve health and wellbeing outcomes
  • assisting service user to navigate and gain access to appropriate services
  • ensuring service user access to other services as appropriate
  • promoting social integration and financial stability
  • recording and monitoring the progress of each service user
  • developing the skills and capabilities of individuals and raising their aspirations
  • providing a service that is timely and available at the point of need
  • coordinating effective working relationships with external agencies
  • maintaining and developing support knowledge and expertise

Our service provision will be strengthened by a network of partner relationships throughout Birmingham.

Wendy Taylor, Cranstoun’s Director of Operations says: “We are really excited to be operating these new services and working within the new pathway commissioned by Birmingham City Council – it provides a real opportunity to help prevent people’s housing situation from getting worse and linking them in with the support they need. There was a real buzz on our first day induction session, and we were delighted to welcome some excellent staff joining Cranston from other organisations. Everyone seemed really happy which is where we want to be on day one.”
