At Cranstoun we are proud to have joined Karma Nirvana and the wider charity community in putting forward a manifesto for the new government to tackle Honour Based Abuse this Week of Memory 2024.

It is essential that this harm is taken seriously, through the implementation of statutory definitions, funding for specialist services and stronger government accountability.

Maria Cripps, Assistant Director of Domestic Abuse Services at Cranstoun, said:

“A strong, cross-sector response to the harm of so-called honour based abuse is fundamental. It is an issue that is all too often overlooked when addressing gender-based violence through policy, funding and policing – and when it is considered, there is no consistent definition used which leads to people falling through the gaps. We are proud to stand with Karma Nirvana in calling for meaningful change from the new Government.”
