Cranstoun welcomes Charlie Mack as its new Chief Executive

Posted on: 2 November, 2020

Cranstoun welcomes Charlie Mack as its new Chief Executive, effective 2 November. This appointment completes the senior management team.

Cranstoun’s Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Charlie Mack as its new Chief Executive, following a rigorous selection process. Charlie previously held the same position at Extern, the leading social justice charity across the island of Ireland. Like Cranstoun, Extern supports people to overcome their challenges, empowering them to make positive change.

The appointment marks a new chapter to Cranstoun’s 50-year timeline and one that builds on Cranstoun’s rich and unique history that places service users and staff at its heart.

“We are delighted that Charlie has joined Cranstoun to work closely with our Board and our Senior Management Team to lead our charity forward. Charlie has worked in the voluntary sector for 26 years in large UK and Irish charities. We are looking forward to working with Charlie and welcoming him to Cranstoun”, said Lesleigh Bounds, Chair of Trustees.

As CEO of Extern for seven years, Charlie led the organisation to become the largest social justice charity across the island of Ireland, transforming the lives of people through world-class social justice interventions. Prior to that, Charlie held the position of Group Director at the Royal National Institute of Blind People for eight years.

He is a Fellow at the Institute of Directors, a Board member of the Local Government Staff Commission and is a National Lottery Community Fund Board Member.

“I am thrilled to be joining Cranstoun and I am particularly excited to lead through our strong value base of ambition, compassion, innovation, integrity and inclusivity which is at the heart of Cranstoun.”
